If a student uses their time productively in class, then there should be very little work, if any, to do at home.
I don't always grade every problem on every assignment. The purpose of daily assignments is to practice the skills being taught during class time. Practice is very important to master the skills.
Assignments are taught and given during class, and generally, sufficient class time is supplied. Any work not completed in class is to be taken home, completed and returned the following school day. Math assignments are generally due the next class period. Reading assignment due dates are generally due the next day. If you have any questions, just email me. Novel question due dates are also the web calendar on the homepage of this website.
If a student fails to use their class time wisely and does not finish an assignment in class, then they will need to finish the work at recess, or at home. Assignments more than 1 week late will receive a grade of zero in the grade book. Missing work reports are printed and passed out to the students. Students are explicitly instructed to staple the reports to the HomeWork Sheets It is the student's responsibility to show parents the missing work report, but I will be happy to email missing work reports upon request. Keep in mind that I may not be aware an assignment is missing until I grade the assignment and get those grades entered.
Assignments that have been returned to the student for corrections or completion will need to be returned to me in a timely manner, and I may have the capability to email to you (in a PDF format) many of the assignments if the student can not find another copy in the classroom or if it is not available somewhere on this website.
As always, feel free to contact me about this or any of your concerns or questions.
